We recognise that every child has their own personality and individual needs, and see it as our responsibility to provide them with a warm, safe and nurturing environment in which to grow and thrive.
The bespoke EYFS environment at Keyingham Primary houses our Nursery (FS1) and Reception (FS2) classes and the area is exceptionally well-equipped for both indoor and outdoor ‘learning through play’ activities.
Our dedicated, enthusiastic staff work hard to ensure every child feels secure and happy and we pride ourselves on our positive and nurturing relationships which enable all children to be strong, confident and independent.
Please contact our EYFS Leader, Miss Chadwick, at school or email admin@keyinghamprimary.co.uk or phone 01964 622319 for more information.
Our main focus for EYFS learning is to observe and teach through child-led, play-based learning. However, we also deliver several discreet lessons throughout the day in our EYFS classes. We place a high priority on pupils learning systematic, synthetic phonics through the Read Write Inc. scheme and we also teach a Maths session every day. Other routines we follow are daily story sessions and group snack times to encourage communication and social skills.

We share and celebrate the children learning in the EYFS using an online programme called Tapestry.
Tapestry builds a very special record of a child’s experiences, development and learning journey through their early years education. Using photos and video’s a teacher or early years practitioner, along with the parents, ‘weaves’ the story of the child and how they are growing and developing. The Tapestry platform then works seamlessly to enable these memories to be kept as a permanent record of each child’s unique journey.
All information held in the platform is stored securely, and can be downloaded and shared as required. Parents are able to view online their child’s progress and how much fun they’re having, whilst also uploading their own comments and media.
If you have any problems with your Tapestry account, please contact Miss Chadwick at school on 01964 622319.
