This week, we’ve had a glimpse of what life will be like in Year 6. We completed our first SATs practice test—and, surprisingly, we really enjoyed the experience! It gave us a sense of what to expect next year, and we feel more prepared and excited for the challenges ahead.

In Reading, we continued diving into our Pledge book, Which Way to Anywhere by Cressida Cowell. It’s a thrilling adventure story filled with imaginative worlds, alternative maps, and brave characters. We’re really enjoying the twists and turns of the plot and discussing the themes it explores.

In Design & Technology, we explored how cogs and gears work. After learning the theory, we had the chance to put our knowledge into practice building our own cardboard cog mechanisms.

Science lessons have continued to focus on space and orbits. We've been learning how the planets move in our solar system and how gravitational forces keep everything in motion.

In Geography, we’ve been tackling the important topic of climate change. We discussed the causes, consequences, and what we can do to help protect our planet.

It’s also been a week full of special visitors. Mr. Simpson joined us to teach about the concept of pilgrimage in R.E., helping us understand why people take spiritual journeys and what they mean to different faiths. The PCSOs also visited to talk about safety and community values.

We’re also wrapping up our drama work with Hull Truck Theatre. Our final workshop with Sophie is on Friday, just before our performance next Tuesday. We’ve been rehearsing The Tempest and had our first go at performing it in front of an audience—Year 3 and 4. We were a bit nervous at first, but it turned out to be a lot of fun and a great confidence boost.

Looking ahead, next week is packed with excitement! We’ve got Rocksteady music performances, our trip to Hull Truck Theatre to perform our Shakespeare piece, an inspiring STEM day at the MKM Stadium, and we'll round off the week with our much-anticipated Sports Day.

We’re looking forward to another week filled with curiosity, creativity, and discovery!
